2011 Central Ontario Pony Club Welsh Award

Welsh Pony and Cob High-Point Award Program for ponies competing in Central Ontario Pony Club

These awards are for the animals that have accumulated the most points by participating in any Central Ontario sanctioned pony club event or activity throughout the show season.  Points are awarded to the pony, rather than to the rider and the award is given to the best “All Around High Point” pure-bred or Half Welsh Pony or Cob. This year the awards were sponsored by Howran Hills Farm of Peterborough, Ontario. 

The successful high-point owners were presented with their awards at the banquet for the Central Ontario Region, held on October 29th.  There were no submissions for Half-Welsh this year.  The winners of this year’s Purebred Welsh awards were: 

CHAMPION PUREBRED Welsh Pony Sec. B Pony – MWP Blue Horizon  (Ardmore On Guard x Tee Essa Whee) – This pony was bred by Amy Marsh of Forest Ontario and is owned and ridden by Bryson Strickland of Woodville, Ontario.“Blue” accumulated 82 points with his young rider, competing in Prince Philip games, Dressage and attending the Pony Club Working Rally. 

RESERVE CHAMPION PUREBRED Welsh PonySec. B Pony – Blithe Hill Dayspring  (Colwyn Davey Jones x Pennwood Madonna) - This pony was bred by Caroline Bazley of Orangeville Ontario and is leased from Elizabeth Stewart of Mason Michigan.  Dash as she is affectionately known, was ridden by Skye Barnes and Lilah Tersigni during the show year in Show jumping, Le Trec, Prince Philip Games and she also attended Working Rally, accumulating 64 points for her riders. The Ontario Welsh Pony and Cob Association would like to thank Howran Hills Farm for their continued support and sponsorship of this award and they would also like to recognize the breeders and exhibitors of MWP Blue Horizon and Blithe Hill Dayspring.

2011 Champion of Champions

This year's Champion of Champion winner was Beaverwood's Mystique, owned and bred by Kirsten Brunner of Hillsburgh, Ontario. Beaverwood's Mystique is a 2 year old Section B colt by Mynach Mystical and out of Beaverwood's Hollyhock. This was also the first year that a youngstock has ever won the honour of Champion of Champions. Congratulations!
